The end of photo a day...

Wow....can't believe I actually made it to the end of the month! There were quite a few times that I really felt like giving up. I'm glad I did it but there is no way I'm doing Project 365!!! I have heaps of admiration for those who are going to do project 365 - Maybe next year! lol...

If there's one thing that photo a day has done for me it's made me see all the beautiful things that are around us in the world...

Yummmmm.....

I decided to treat myself this morning and drop by the bakery down the street which sells the best custard tarts around....they are soooo yummy.

Anyway I think these custard tarts are so yummy and look awesome which made it worthy of being my photo for day 30. :-)

Fly away...

It may only have been a three day work week for me but busyness wise it's felt like a month! I am just soooo glad that the week is over...

Since it has been such a busy and crappy week I decided to go for a nice relaxing walk on the beach....I snapped this shot of a seagull doing exactly what I'd like to do....fly away from it all. *sigh*

I had a completely crazy busy day at work today and I'm soooo tired and uninspired and pretty much completely over the whole photo thing right now!

First macro bug shot!

I've seen some really cool macro shots of bugs and creepy crawlies and since doing my flower macro shots I've realised just how hard it must be to take a shot of something so tiny that moves so erratically!

I've wanted to attempt a bug macro shot for a while but alas - couldn't find any bugs around!

Well I walked into the backyard this morning and spotted this little bug flitting about and thought that this could be my chance.

So here is my first attempt at a bug shot with my macro lens...

Self portrait.

On DOL quite a few people have done self portraits (one brave user committed herself to doing only self portraits for photo a day for January! Talk about a challenge!) which inspired me to try doing one myself.

So since I had the day off from work today I set up my camera to use the nifty little timer thingo (that I've never used before btw!) and started mucking around.

Mike and I went out to dinner on Saturday night to Urban Bistro (Clara omg you were right that place is fantastic!) and this was the dress I wore...I loooove it so thought it would be nice to have a photo of me in it. :-)

It's been a long hard week...

Due to the Australia Day holiday on Tuesday my work generously decided to let us all take Monday off as well...of course this meant that in the lead up to this four day weekend work has been crazy busy and I am so glad that the week is over!

I thought that Luka managed to capture just how I was feeling tonight after the week I've had...

Someone on DOL posted a great shot of her four dogs posing so prettily together for her it inspired me to get a nice 'posed' shot of my two...not as easy as it sounds!

Mondayitis...

Suffering from Mondayitis big time...by the time I'd gone through the whole walk dogs, feed dogs, feed cats, feed us, tidy up routine I was completely stuffed and basically only had enough energy to walk out the front door down the street about three houses and snapped the first interesting thing I saw....not even that interesting now I come to think of it...but nevertheless - a photo!

Poor doped up kitty...

Well my two kittens (I always call them kittens even though they're both 2 years old! I think it's just one of those things...) had to have their teeth cleaned at the vet today. They're both silly little buggers who don't chew their food properly and so had all this gunk and tartar build up on their teeth. Anyway this meant they both had to put under a general anaesthetic so today's photo is of my little doped up Dasha boy once I'd got him home this afternoon...

(Note: Photo was taken in the middle of a big cuddle and patting session - just in case you think I'm a meanie who just sat there taking photos of my poor out of it kitty!)

Molly in motion.

Went to the park today with the pups to get a shot of Molly in motion...and what do you know! I actually managed it! I was quite pleased with myself. Not only did I have to get an in focus action shot (which I'm getting better at but there were a lot of blurry ones!) but we actually had to get Molly to move which is a challenge in itself.

Anyways here's a photo of my Molly girl running as evidence that she can!

A peaceful walk by the river.

Since it's finally decided to cool down we went for a lovely walk by the river tonight and that's where I found my subject for day 12's photo...

Ragdoll fluff.....

Day 12's inspiration came from brushing my little cat Dash for about 10 minutes tonight. Obviously he's decided that if it's going to be 40 degrees he really doesn't need all that fur!

Funnily enough that is a tiny amount of fur compared to how much coat he loses going from winter to summer or summer to winter! Then it's like a fluffy snowstorm. I'll have to get some before/after pics of that this year. If anyone tells you Ragdolls don't shed they're lying! :-)

Day 11.

A stinking hot day today combined with a busy day at work equals not much energy left for photo a day!

Here's my 'happy snap' shot for today of Luka playing with a toy in the backyard. Not much effort involved in this one I know but I'm really just trying not to fall off the photo a day wagon!

Well just because apparently photo a day isn't hard enough on its own my sister Clara decided to set me a challenge within the challenge and take a photo of books on my bookcase.

My Molly.

Looking back over my first week of doing "Photo a Day" I realised I haven't yet done a photo of my beautiful collie girl Molly! She's a bit camera shy and usually when the camera's out all I get is this hang dog 'are you going to beat me up now?' look...

Occasionally I can get a really nice photo which shows just what a sweet happy dog she is. So Day 7 is..........

Okay....so now the effort level is dropping rapidly. I'm hoping my inspiration comes back when I have more time on the weekend!

This is today's (very little) effort...

I was changing the sheets on the bed and when I flapped the sheet Dash leapt up to see what I was doing. He then spent five minutes running, leaping and pouncing around the bed and sheet like a complete loony before giving me this look "What do you mean this isn't helping you make the bed??". I do love my crazy little cat. :-)

It's getting harder!

A photo a day sounds really easy but man is it hard!

I'm feeling really time poor at the moment with work and taking care of all those bits and pieces that make up life but I'm trying to keep up with it. I really am starting to have doubts about how long I'll be able to keep this going though!

I snapped this one this morning (since after yesterday I knew I would be pretty stuffed after work).

Not a sensational photo but I did like that (1) I got a shot of Cosmo's face (I've got plenty of the back of his head and his tail!) he's not a fan of the camera and (2) he actually had his eyes open...usually whenever he's outside (in the usuable light!) he's all squinty and it doesn't make for a great photo.

I know some of the highlights are blown out which isn't great but *pfft* it's the best I could do today!

Back to work today....

and the going is tough!

It's definitely going to be difficult to keep Photo a Day going now that I'm back work. It's much easier when you've got all day to wander around looking for a likely subject and waiting for inspiration to strike.

Anyway...here is today's effort. Nothing ground breaking here (not that any of my photos are! lol!) but I was too tired to do anything terribly creative so just brought the camera along on our afternoon walk with the dogs.

I do think this photo captures Luka's happy nature though and just how much he love love loves to play fetch!

Photo a day challenge.

Wow....I didn't realise I hadn't blogged since October! Talk about time flying...

Well it is now a brand new year and I have decided to participate in a 'Photo a Day' challenge on Dogzonline (a dog forum I'm on).

Here's my photos from yesterday and today....I was quite pleased with these but I'm not sure how I'll go keeping up with a photo a day once I'm back at work! We'll have to wait and see. :)
